This wonderful shot snapped by Sofia. It just feels like a happy room… I don’t know if it was the natural light flooding the room or the quintessential collection of art displayed on the walls or maybe this inviting table setting but I was in love as soon as I saw it and I felt it lifted up my heart. Last month, I flew to London to style the Summer campaign for DFS which took place in a magical place in Seasalter, Kent. As the photos have been featured in the press, I’m now allowed to share them with you here. The brief from DFS was to achieve a costal look around this beautiful sofa which is part of the French Connection collection (the coffee table too is from DFS, stunning isn’t it!?). I wanted to stay away from the costal shabby chic look we often see in magazines so my inspiration for the photoshoot was the beach houses that line the coast of Cape Town in South Africa. The location was just perfect for this! To achieve the look, I introduced textures using this striking Z1 pendant light with a black sisal shade as a centre piece to complement the blue of the sofa and this pretty basket and added soft furnishings with patterns using handmade indigo throws and cushions.
This Black on Black styling from my archives with the Bat print upside down and our NEW-YORK print. Once the summer is over, I will tackle the re-decoration of our blue house* (called blue by the girls because of its blue shutters) and add a fresh coat of paint to this bedroom**. Have a great Sunday! I’m waiting for my sis’ to wake up and then we will do yoga. PS*: House is available for rental during school holidays PS**: The Batgirl print featured on the wall is back in stock SHOP THE POST
Last week, I flew back to London with François to style a Summer shot for DFS in Seasalter, Kent. The shooting location was a beach house called The Battery, located on the coast of North Kent and it was just such an amazing space.
This is one of my all-time favourites styling by Cleo Scheulderman who regularly styles for Dutch magazine VT Wonen. I love the display of rustic chopping boards (these are 25% OFF in the sale), the raw concrete floor and vintage furniture against a deep, indigo background and of course this beautiful papier maché lampshade by French designer Myriam Balay. While white is definitively my colour of predilection at home, comes Summer and I crave for blue grey linen, blue shutters like the ones in our home in France (more details here) and indigo cushions and accessories. Talking of which, we will soon add a gorgeous collection of handmade, indigo throws to the shop. And if anyone knows a UK ceramist that makes gorgeous cups like these, please let me know as I need a few for a styling job next week in the UK. What do you think? Which feature (s) do you love the most? // Styling: Cleo Scheulderman, Photography by Jeroen Van Der Spek SHOP THE POST
